The NJCAA National Basketball tournaments in Division 1 and 2 kick off this week and four Region 10 teams will be represent the Regions attempts at earning a National Championship.
Cape Fear community College was able to capture the DI Men's Basketball title and the DII Women's Basketball title. The Sea Devils men's team earned the #22 seed after winning the Region 10 tournament as the #4 seed upsetting both #1 Spartanburg Methodist and #2 USC Salkehatchie. The Men will play #11 seed Hutchinson Community College with a game time at 1:00pm on Tuesday, March 20.
The Cape Fear Women's Basketball team who finished the season defeating Louisburg College in the Region 10 tournament, earned the #6 seed and will face #11 seed Kankakee Community College at 12:00pm on Tuesday, March 20.
In DII Men's Basketball, two Region 10 teams earned national tournament bids. Regular season and tournament champion Louisburg College earned the #4 seed in the tournament. Louisburg fell in the championship game last season and looks to avenge the loss last year. The Hurricanes will take the court at 10:00am on Tuesday, March 20 against #13 seed Erie Community College.
Richard Bland College, who fell in a tough region championship game to Louisburg, earned the #7 seed and will take on #10 seed Highland at 9:30pm on Tuesday, March 20. Richard Bland also competed in the national tournament last year finishing 4th overall.
