Over the weekend at the DI/DII Final Four, held at Sandhills Community College in Pinehurst, NC; the #4 seed Cape Fear Community College used upsets over the #1 and #2 seeds to win the Region 10 and District X championship. In the first semifinal matchup Cape Fear faced off against regular season champion and #1 seed Spartanburg Methodist College. In a equally matched game the Sea Devils defense helped get the first upset with a 75-69 victory.
Cape Fear faced off against the #2 seed USC Salkehatchie, who had defeated #3 seed Caldwell CC&TI in the other semifinal 62-43. Down 5 at the half Cape Fear rallied and saw the game tied in regulation. However in overtime the Sea Devils remained hot and outscored USC Salkehatichie 15-4 in the extra period to claim a 76-65 victory.
